My First Pillowcase Dress

Cinderella is playing at our outdoor theatre. I got tickets for The Short Chic and I to go to Sunday's performance. 

When The Short Chic threatened to wear her hot and frayed Cinderella costume to the performance, I knew I had to come up with a better option. 

Just so you can see...This is The Short Chic dressed up like Cinderella. She obviously puts a lot of time and effort into playing this role.
I decided to make a pillowcase dress. My friend Meeghan made one for her daughter not too long ago and it turned out to be such a cute dress!

I used a tutorial from Viola & Pearl and found out not only does the dress look cute, it is so simple to make that even a novice sewer like myself can whip it out in no time.

So, I am not going to provide you with a tutorial because Viola & Peal really do a great job. But I am going to show you the finished product!

I sewed the Cinderella applique on by machine. It was a bit tricky but not hard.  

In the end, she loves it and promises she is going to wear this dress to the show Sunday. I think she looks cooler in her pillowcase dress. And considering we are having temperatures nearing 100 degrees, cooler is better!


Sewing is not my strongest skill, just ask my  junior high home economics teacher! But I finished this dress, without a pattern, in less than an hour. My seams are straight and The Short Chic loves it. I am considering this one a success!

    I would definitely consider this a success! I wish I knew how to sew... Maybe someday... Anywho, I wanted to let you know where I buy my Cricut cartridges. I always get them at customcrops.com. They are so much cheaper there, and I've even found them for as little as $15! So awesome! Hope this helps... :)

    Melissa, Maybe if I wear a size 3 it would look good on me. I think I shall stick to capri's and a tank top!

August has become our summer vacation month. My Weekend Project: A PVC Camping Lamp Post and Flag Holder

I have seen a few of these around campsites and I knew I would like to have one. The only problem that I had is The Husband. He already thinks we drag too much stuff with us when we go camping and if I had told him my desire to have a PVC Camping Light Pole he would have shut it down quickly! How Hallmark Broke My Christmas Heart

Hallmark has broken my heart. Maybe even damaged a bit of my soul.  {YES, it sounds dramatic, but please read on to understand why!} My love for Hallmark started years ago when I was about 19-20 years old.  I was dating a boy who had invited me home with him for the holidays.
