It's My Life

 We started school today. The Short Chic started first grade. She was so excited. She allowed me to walk her to the bus but that was it.  Her favorite food is cheese pizza. Her favorite thing to drink is Sprite (but she only gets it with pizza!) Her favorite tv show is Jessie!  When she grows up she wants to be a Disney actress, a dancer, a gymnast, and a designer. (She believes in keeping her options open!) She hates to clean her bedroom or pick up after herself. She also does not like bugs or crawfish.  She loves Monster High and American Girl Dolls. He is a Senior. Today was his last first day. Well, except for college. He recently decided he might want to be a teacher when he grows up. His favorite food is Mexican Food. His recently gave up drinking soda.  He loves sports. He hates vegetables. He spent the afternoon getting a job (the second one this week). He starts tomorrow afternoon. I can't believe he is graduating in nine months!

I love bird watching. Some are hard to catch...with my lens. But I sure try.  I chased this woodpecker all over our campground at Table Rock State Park before I could get a shot of him.  This woodpecker thinks he is a hummingbird. I found him outside my kitchen door.  Every morning when this little bird shows up I smile. I can almost set my clock by her. 

I don't know about anyone else's family but ours occasionally has a day that is over scheduled. Here is our Insane Saturday! 9:00 a.m. Wake The Short Chic up to do hair and make-up. 10:00 a.m. Visit to local florist to pick up flowers. 11:30 Full Make-Up, Hair and Dress Rehearsal for Dance Recital I love rehearsal. It allows me to get up-close great shots without blocking anyone's view! 1:00 First Tee-Ball Game of the Season.  The Boy also had a baseball game but we had to miss the first hour because of tee-ball. Here is our group of girls getting ready for their game. Having a proper game face is an essential part of our strategy. 2:00 We won! {Yes, I admit no one actually keeps score in a tee-ball game. But I know we had 5 outs and they only managed to get 1 on us. That means we won!} 3:00 The Boy also won his first game. 3:15 to 3:45 Nap time! 3:45 The Boy showers and dresses for Prom. While camping Memorial Day weekend, The Short Chic and her running partner, Miss B,  learned to fly kites.   It was a super windy day that was perfect for flying kites.  When was the last time you flew a kite? For us adults, it had been a while. Even putting a kite together was a bit of a challenge for us rusty parents. Who ever realized that some thin wooden rods {now plastic rods}, some paper {or plastic}, and some string would provide hours of enjoyment was a pure genius!
