Weigh-In Wednesday and Link-up Party

I keep telling myself that set backs are common on a weight loss journey. I honestly have no idea if they are or not. But I keep telling myself that they are. I started a weight loss program in May. I stopped tracking my food and weighing in August. This week, I decided to jump right back on the bandwagon. Here are my stat's: Starting Weight:                 203.2 pounds  Weight at Last Weigh In:    191.0 pounds Current Weight:                 191.2 pounds TOTAL LOSS:                    12 pounds I am pretty excited that I have maintained my weight for the past two months.  Things that worked this week: 1. I just started being aware and following the program. Just like that. I think we all suffer set backs. How we react to those set backs is what is important.  2. I increased my water consumption. When I ...

Week 10 Weight Watchers Update

It has been a few weeks since I updated you all on my Weight Watcher's progress. I am still weighing in, please do not think I have given up or stopped. I just could not get it posted last week because we were in Denver, without internet service. I weighed-in today. I lost another 2.2 pounds. This brings my total weight loss to 13 pounds in 10 weeks. The super great news: I was on vacation for four of the seven days! I told the ladies at Weight Watchers that I seem to lose more weight when I am on vacation than during my "real" life, so I was just going to stay on vacation! I bought a new gadget. You will probably see me wearing it. I purchased a BodyMedia monitor. If you watch The Biggest Loser, you might have noticed BodyMedia's competitor being worn on the contestants.   My new gadget is a small monitoring devise that is worn on the upper arm. It records the amount of calories burned each day, the amount of calories consumed, the difference between the two...

Making Choices

"Choice, not destiny determines your future."  I am on vacation this week.  Being on Weight Watchers brings a whole new perspective to vacations.  Historically, vacations mean free reign over eating. I would eat large meals, have snacks, and of course, dessert! By the time vacation would be over, I would be up another ten pounds. This time I wanted to do it differently.  I read this quote on some Weight Watchers material and I let it be my guide. For everything. 1. We are staying in a condo, miles away from restaurants, so eating-in is our best option. I planned a menu . It included healthier options for me. For example, extra lean ground turkey for me when the family had hamburgers. Or a bowl of whole grain cereal and a banana while the family had biscuits and gravy.  2. This is a huge resort in the Ozark Mountains . They provide free shuttle service to and from places. I chose to walk most of the places I went to. Including up large hills! 3. T...

New Patterns are Hard!

Those people who enjoy exercise, get a rush from it, just totally amaze me! I made a committment on Monday to walk for 30 minutes every day and so far this week, I have kept that committment. In fact, I have made my way into West Virginia on my quest to walk across the USA this year. But, it is STILL a challenge everyday. I have to wonder how long until I become one of those Exercise Fans? Will I ever become a fan? I am really loving the website http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ . It is so simple to use and has been way easy to track my food intake and exercise.  I am pretty proud of myself for following through with both the walking and the tracking.  However, this still does not touch the biggest accomplishment I have had this week; I have yet to eat red meat. Research shows that being overweight is a red flag for Cancer. So is a diet high in red meat. I am actively addressing both of these. I have no intent to give up red meat (as I am typing this, a steak sounds so go...
