A Sip and See

We welcomed Baby Dylan into this world yesterday with a Sip and See.

I am a little disappointed in the photos I have to share. I am not sure what happened to my photo taking skills but they took a nap yesterday!

 The theme for the Sip and See was birds.  I love spring time and love that life feels new during spring. And how appropriate is that for a celebration of a new life?

I once again used Decorable Designs for the invitations. This time I asked Aubrey to make me a custom design. She was so fast and quick. Within a day of me providing her ideas of what I wanted, she had me samples and options. I have blurred out the private information but I hope you can get a sense of how super cute her work is. If you need party invitations and want something special, I highly recommend Aubrey at Decorable Designs!!

 I handmade felt cupcake toppers for the event. Click  Here if you are interested in seeing the post about them. They looked so good on top of the yellow tropical fruit cupcakes! The great news is that Dylan's Mom is going to upcycle them into a cute mobile for Dylan's bedroom!

I also made bird nest candies for the shower. These were a hit! Dylan's Daddy loved them! Other than they were a little messy they were super easy to make. Three ingredients: chow mein noodles, almond bark, and Mini Cadburry Eggs.

I also purchased some some sugar cookies from my favorite bakery Boulevard Bakery and Pastries.

                                         
Drinks are very important at a Sip and See. During The Oscars we made virgin Blue Hawaiians and we joked about how yummy they were but how good they would be with a shot of Malibu Rum in them.  So, we served Blue Hawaiian's (both with and without alcohol).  We also served tea (with sugar and without). We served them in half pint mason jars (and I can not believe I forgot to take a photo of a single drink). We had use of a super cute drink bucket that we served the mason jar drinks out of.

 In addition to the Blue Hawaiian's and tea we served milk and water.
We wrapped the bottles with green gingham material and a pink safety pin.


Food is also important at a party. Dylan's Aunt got supplies to make chicken salad sandwiches on pretzel rolls. We had two kinds of chicken salad. Dylan's Mommy is a Costco fanatic, so we purchased two types of chicken salad from there and I think both of them were yummy and well received by our guest.


We also had a Welcome Wagon to house any possible gifts that were brought for Baby Dylan.  The Welcome Wagon was an old Red Ryder wagon that had this cute sign on it. I made the sign out of cardstock and once again used my Cricut.

Overall, it was a great day!
 In the end, Baby Dylan was the star of this show! A sweet baby girl who already has our hearts in her her hand. Welcome Baby Girl!

    So sad that I missed this great event but more sad that I haven't met baby Dylan! Everything looked great!

I have seen a few of these around campsites and I knew I would like to have one. The only problem that I had is The Husband. Tonsillectomy (Warning Photos!)

The Short Chic came down with a pretty nasty case of strep throat back in April. So, when The Boy started complaining about his throat hurting about 12 days later, I was pretty confident that he had inherited his sister's strep. Instead, The Boy was diagnosed with a peritonsillar abscess growing on his right tonsil.  We had to immediately see an ENT  Physician who took a needle and drained the abscess. He removed about 5.5 cc of puss from The Boys throat.and then told us that once you have a peritonsillar abscess you were high risk to keep getting them. The Boy's tonsils were now compromised and needed to be removed.  We were told to plan for a two week recovery so we worked a surgery into our summer plans. Between family vacations, summer sports, and the beginning of school The Boy had his second surgery. A tonsillectomy.  Pre-surgery prepping went well. Liver Cheese: A Family Tradition

Today is an anniversary date. One of those dates you wish you did not have to remember but there is no way you can forget.  Fifteen years ago today,two days after his birthday, my father died of lung cancer. He was a lifelong smoker and his cancer was aggressive. His battle was short. He fought for six short months after his diagnosis. He knew the chemo was not working and that his time was limited. When he came to this realization he became the best dad in the world.                                                In the days before my father's passing, my family shared some memorable moments. One of those moments centers around the deli meat: Liver Cheese.I would not be surprised if you have never heard of it, or even never tasted it.
