The Short Chic Writes, Volume II

Here is another cute little story from my Short Chic. It is funny to me how small things stand out in a child's mind. She wrote this story about a lunch date we had with our friends. The little girls sat together and the Mommy's sat together. After eating the little girls went to play in the play area and had an encounter with someone they thought was not playing nicely. I guess the entire experience left an impression upon her.

"One time I went to Chick-fil-A."

"We went in the restaurant. We ordered the food. "

"We ate the food. Me and my friend sat with each other. We had chicken nuggets."

"We went to play. We were playing there was a mean girl. She was mean to me and my friend."

"She was a mean girl. She wanted us to smell her feet."

Liver Cheese: A Family Tradition

Today is an anniversary date. One of those dates you wish you did not have to remember but there is no way you can forget.  Fifteen years ago today,two days after his birthday, my father died of lung cancer. He was a lifelong smoker and his cancer was aggressive. His battle was short. He fought for six short months after his diagnosis. He knew the chemo was not working and that his time was limited. When he came to this realization he became the best dad in the world.                                                In the days before my father's passing, my family shared some memorable moments. Tour of Missouri: Montauk State Park and The Ozark National Scenic Riverway

August has become our summer vacation month. Summer activities have usually wound down and we like to get one last hooray in before school starts.  This summer we decided to travel our own state and visit a few places we have been dreaming of visiting but were a little too far for a weekend road trip. Despite last minute vacation glitches we managed to pull out of Kansas City around 9:00 in the morning headed to Montauk State Park just outside of Licking, Missouri.  Montauk State Park is one of three state parks where you can trout fish in Missouri. We are frequent visitors of  Bennett Springs  State Park but not Montauk, just because of the travel distance from our house. (Bennett Springs is about 3 hours and Montauk is double that.)
