Teacher Gifts: Acrylic Clip Boards

The end of the school year is upon us. The Short Chic is about to finish her first year of school and is already looking forward to being a First Grader next year. The Short Chic loves her teacher and talks about her all the time. I know the school year provides us with several times to express our gratitude towards those who teach our children. We just celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. If you are like me, I am always trying to find the best gift I can to show the teacher our thanks. I started making Acrylic Clip Boards this past year for holiday presents for my co-workers. They are easy to make. Relatively inexpensive. And just super cute! Here are some of the clipboards I have recently made: Now let's get to the how to of the project. I took a class at Creating Keepsakes Convention (CKC) a few years ago on Acrylic scrapbooks. That class really helped me figure this project out easily. The first step, as with any project, is to gather your supplies.  I found ...

Quick and Easy Gifts: Great for Mother's Day

With Mother's Day and Dance Recital just around the corner, I spent a few hours at Hobby Lobby the other day looking for ideas for gifts.  I came across one of those free fliers they strategically place next to merchandise. You know the kind: they make every project look super easy. They lure un-knowledgeable crafters in thinking, "Hey, I can do this!" Yep, sucked me right in!  So I loaded up on supplies: The Jewelry Shoppe brand square key chains, assorted scrapbooking papers, stickers, embellishments, and Magic-Glos.  The Jewelry Shoppe has lots of different mediums to work with. You can make key chains, pendents in many different sizes and shapes, earrings, rings, ect.  The Magic-Glos is the key to the whole project. There maybe other products out there like this, I am just not aware. It comes in a little bitty 1 ounce bottle with a $9.99 price tag stuck on it. I used my 40% off coupon and prayed one bottle wo...

DIY: Leg Warmers

I love the 80's. I think I immersed myself in about every style trend that came out in the 80's. Neon, jelly shoes, knickers, big hair, off-the-shoulder sweaters, friendship pins, and of course leg warmers. I am happy to see that leg warmers are coming back in style. And they are so much cuter now than they use to be. So you can imagine how excited I was during a recent shopping trip to Hobby Lobby when I saw leg warmers! I picked up a few supplies to jazz up these little leg warmers for The Short Chic. Pink Polka Dot leggings, a variety of ribbon, and some glitter buttons. This morning I sat down at my sewing machine and sewed the pink ribbon to the top of the leggings.  It was not hard, just a tight stretch around the sewing machine. In the end, the ribbon looks pretty good around the top of the leggings.  Next I took 7/8 inch Hot Pink Grosgrain ribbon and cut a piece several inches long. I ran a basting stitch along one side of the ribbon. Afte...
