Orlando: Disney's Hollywood Studio's

After a two full days of amusement parks { The Magic Kingdom  and  Universal Studio's } it is important to recognize by this point you are tired and your feet hurt. You know you have walked a lot but you have no idea how much.                                  This is our second Disney day. We were up late the night before at  The Magic Kingdom  and we needed some rest. We let the kids sleep until they naturally woke up. Then we casually headed to the park.  We arrived at Disney's Hollywood Studios around noon. The Boys quickly went and got FastPasses for Star Tours. While they were doing that, The Short Chic and I headed over to Animation Court to see characters from Disney Junior. The Short Chic was so excited to see Jake and Handy Manny. We were really hoping to see Princess Sofia but she is not a character to meet yet. We did see her at the Disney Juni...

Orlando: The Magic Kingdom

On the second full day of our vacation we were up early, picnic lunch packed, and headed to Disney's Magic Kingdom. I will concede here that this vacation is about introducing my youngest, The Short Chic to The Wonderful World of Disney. But I will also concede here no none in my family loves Disney more than I! As we were driving to the park I was a bundle of excitement anticipation. I believe this is my sixth trip to Disney; my second to Disney World. I learned a few new things this visit. I had no idea that Disney hands out celebratory buttons to guest. If you happen to be celebrating an event {Birthday, Anniversary, Graduation, First Visit, ect} make sure you stop by City Hall as soon as you come through the gate and get your free button. The Short Chic was given a "First Time Visit" and a "Happy Birthday" button.   Every cast member and often other Disney guest who saw her that day hollered out a "Happy Birthday, Princess!" Disn...

Orlando: Universal Studios

Self confession: I love Harry Potter. I knew as soon as we decided to go to Orlando that we had to make a trip to Universal Studio's to experience the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. On the first full day of our Orlando vacation, we ate breakfast in our condo and packed a picnic lunch, and we headed off to explore all that Universal Studio's had to offer. The last time I was at Universal Studio's was in 1993 and the first thing you notice is that some things sure have changed and other things are exactly the same. There is a new city walk very similar to the one in Las Angeles. The city walk connects Universal Studio's two parks: Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. We entered the park and immediately started seeing characters: Betty Boop, The Minions for Despicable Me, and The Simpsons. While waiting in a fairly short line to grab a photo with Bart and Homer Simpson, I started studying the park map and quickly realized we were in the wrong place! ...

Disney World: Our Lodging

We have been home from Spring Break for a week now. We took several days just to sit and relax and sleep! I have been wanting to blog about our amazing trip to the happiest place on earth but I have just felt so overwhelmed by the experience. How could I possibly fit it all into one blog post? Well, I am not even going to try. This week I am going to bring you reviews and post of our trip. This post is about our choice to not stay on Disney property. Staying on property has so many advantages: free transportation, extended park hours, a variety of budget options, and a complete Disney experience. But there are some disadvantages as well. The rooms that would fit into my budget would put all four of us sharing a hotel sized room. We would be limited to Disney property. We opted to stay at The Fountains, a Bluegreen Property about 10 miles from the park. To stay off property meant that we had to rent a vehicle to get around and we had to pay parking each day we visi...

Surprise! We Are Going to Disney World!

For The Short Chic's birthday we gave her a HUGE surprise! We were giving her a dream trip to Disney World. It was time to meet all The Princesses! She knew we were planning to go "some day." In fact, she has been saving pennies, and nickles and dimes in hopes of "getting enough money" to go. This video is a little loud. We presented her with her surprise at her 5th Birthday party, where she had 15 friends over. Plus parents. Grandparents. Aunts/Uncles ect. There was a lot of people there. Finding the perfect way to tell her was a little challenging. She still does not read, so we had to find another way. I thought about puzzle pieces and putting them inside balloons that she would have to pop and put together. But my puzzle pieces were too big. In the end, we went to Build-A-Bear and purchased a voice box. My Husband, The Boy and I all recorded her a message. It said, "You've waited so long and now the time has come to go have some fun, so p...

Dr. Seuss Inspired Birthday Pennant

My best friends sweet baby has turned ONE!  You may remember me blogging about her. We welcomed her to this world with a cute Welcome To The World Gift  and again with a beautiful  Sip and See Shower . Now it is time to welcome her to the toddler years. Her party is inspired by Dr. Seuss and all of his bright colors and whimsical patterns. I volunteered to make a birthday banner for her high chair. Since it is threatening another snow storm this weekend, I needed a project! (1.) Supplies. I used red and turquoise card stock, ribbon and some embossing folders. I used my Cricut and the Pretty Pennants Art Cartridge. I cut out 6 inch triangles and banner tops. (2.) and (3.) Then I took the triangles and banner tops and dry embossed them using the Cuttlebug embossing sleeves and the Sizzix Texture Boutique. I love how this machine transforms ordinary card stock into beautiful embossed card stock in no time at all! (4.) Next, add some a...
