One Year Anniversary!

My family just returned from a great weekend with my BFF and her hubby's lake home.  This is not our first trip there, we spent Memorial Day and Fourth of July there. But this is the first time we have visited when there were only five of us. It was such a nice relaxing weekend. Their Roses of Sharon bushes where loaded with butterflies this weekend. Swarms of them! The weather was perfect. Warm. Not hot. The company was amazing and we shared in some yummy food!

We went down to celebrate my 1 year anniversary. One year ago today, a very wise and caring doctor had to tell me I had cancer-Hodgkins Lymphoma to be exact. One year ago today, I clicked on Blogger and started blogging about my diagnosis.

This past year has been filled with many down moments. Surgeries. Chemotherapy. Radiation. Injections, Doctors. Hair Loss.  But it has also been filled with some of the best up moments. Friends. Phone Calls. Letters. Family. Support. Prayers.   Even with all the trials I was experiencing, I had a lot of hope and faith that I was going to come out on the other side of this diagnosis.

I know this sounds absolutely weird to many, but this blog helped get me through this past year. The blog opened up an avenue for me to write (is it called writing if you are typing?) down my thoughts. I can not tell you all how much it helped!! And the fact that you all read it and stuck with me, I say thank you.  I have "met" some awesome people this year. Gotten some strength from some of you. Total distraction from others. And inspiration from a few others.


Today's post is my 200th!  That is a lot of chatting!  I have survived one year! I will survive more.  Thank you all for the peace I feel today.

    Pam you have always been a survivor even before that yucky cancer came along. You proved to that devil that Faith always trumps fear. You are a beautiful person and friend and I'm so blessed to have you in my life. Happy year and 200th post!

    I love you friend! Sorry I can't be there to be with you this day to celebrate with you. I am so happy for you and proud of your strenght. YOu are an amazing woman, friend, wife and mommy. I love you dearest friend and so happy for you. Remember I am always here for you!.

I have seen a few of these around campsites and I knew I would like to have one. The only problem that I had is The Husband. He already thinks we drag too much stuff with us when we go camping and if I had told him my desire to have a PVC Camping Light Pole he would have shut it down quickly! Tour of Missouri: Montauk State Park and The Ozark National Scenic Riverway

August has become our summer vacation month. Summer activities have usually wound down and we like to get one last hooray in before school starts.  This summer we decided to travel our own state and visit a few places we have been dreaming of visiting but were a little too far for a weekend road trip. Despite last minute vacation glitches we managed to pull out of Kansas City around 9:00 in the morning headed to Montauk State Park just outside of Licking, Missouri.  Montauk State Park is one of three state parks where you can trout fish in Missouri. We are frequent visitors of  Bennett Springs  State Park but not Montauk, just because of the travel distance from our house. (Bennett Springs is about 3 hours and Montauk is double that.) Today is an anniversary date. One of those dates you wish you did not have to remember but there is no way you can forget.  Fifteen years ago today,two days after his birthday, my father died of lung cancer. He was a lifelong smoker and his cancer was aggressive. His battle was short. He fought for six short months after his diagnosis. He knew the chemo was not working and that his time was limited.
