Photography Lesson 5: Quiet

I appreciate the suggestions, I even ended up taking some of the advice. I attempted to take a photo of an empty playground but the perspective was just off. So, I am posting a photo of a library isle.

I got up too early this morning to get a photo of either one of my kiddo's sleeping. There was no light available to grab a shot. I was up and out the door by 7:15 a.m. this morning as I have been working an hour away this week. And by the time I got back home, nap time was over.

Other quiet moments today:

The clock in my kitchen showing that my quiet time is almost over. Soon alarms will sound, showers will begin, fighting will occur and the day will officially start in the same chaotic way it always does. The sun was not even up at this time.

The swing set in my back yard. It is quiet today, as the weather is chilly and rain is expected.  Normally, this swing set is packed with all the neighbor kids and is loud. Just not today.

Tour of Missouri: Montauk State Park and The Ozark National Scenic Riverway

August has become our summer vacation month. Summer activities have usually wound down and we like to get one last hooray in before school starts.  This summer we decided to travel our own state and visit a few places we have been dreaming of visiting but were a little too far for a weekend road trip. Despite last minute vacation glitches we managed to pull out of Kansas City around 9:00 in the morning headed to Montauk State Park just outside of Licking, Missouri.  Montauk State Park is one of three state parks where you can trout fish in Missouri. We are frequent visitors of  Bennett Springs  State Park but not Montauk, just because of the travel distance from our house. (Bennett Springs is about 3 hours and Montauk is double that.) Today is an anniversary date. One of those dates you wish you did not have to remember but there is no way you can forget.  Fifteen years ago today,two days after his birthday, my father died of lung cancer. He was a lifelong smoker and his cancer was aggressive. His battle was short. He fought for six short months after his diagnosis. He knew the chemo was not working and that his time was limited.
